Requesting Admissions

If a patient's clinical state requires inpatient care, you can request an admission from within the consultation room.

1. Initiating the Request

From the Consultation room (/consultations/[id]):

  1. Locate the Request Admission button in the consultation interface.
  2. Select the target Ward or Unit (e.g., Male Surgical, Pediatric).
  3. Provide the admission reason and any urgent clinical instructions.
  4. Click Submit Request.

2. Tracking Admission Requests

Once a request is submitted:

  1. The patient is added to the Admission Requests queue for the target ward.
  2. Ward nurses or clinicians can see the pending request and assign a bed.
  3. The patient's status in the general queue is updated to Admission Requested.

[!TIP] Ensure all provisional diagnoses are documented correctly before requesting the admission, as this data will be transferred to the inpatient record.

[!NOTE] The final admission and bed assignment occur in the Inpatient module after the request is reviewed.

[!NOTE] The clinical record will remain active and part of the patient's longitudinal file when they move from the OPD to the inpatient ward.
