Requesting Admissions
If a patient's clinical state requires inpatient care, you can request an admission from within the consultation room.
1. Initiating the Request
From the Consultation room (/consultations/[id]):
- Locate the Request Admission button in the consultation interface.
- Select the target Ward or Unit (e.g., Male Surgical, Pediatric).
- Provide the admission reason and any urgent clinical instructions.
- Click Submit Request.
2. Tracking Admission Requests
Once a request is submitted:
- The patient is added to the Admission Requests queue for the target ward.
- Ward nurses or clinicians can see the pending request and assign a bed.
- The patient's status in the general queue is updated to Admission Requested.
[!TIP] Ensure all provisional diagnoses are documented correctly before requesting the admission, as this data will be transferred to the inpatient record.
[!NOTE] The final admission and bed assignment occur in the Inpatient module after the request is reviewed.
[!NOTE] The clinical record will remain active and part of the patient's longitudinal file when they move from the OPD to the inpatient ward.
